Just bought a 9 year old house and the epoxy floor is in good shape. There is some discoloration and one very small crack but overall it has held up very well. I want to change the color. What prep do I need to do and what material is best for this?

Like Scott said above. We've had to modify these instruction a bit and suggest the more abrasive burgundy pads for Wolverine products but it depends on the material you are attempting to degloss. Start with green but if it's not cutting step it up to burgundy pads. Wipe with denatured alcohol and apply the new coating/s.

I might deviate to black or even a sanding screen if has urethane on top.
Things get stupid once you have flakes involved.

We generally run 80 sanding screens, it makes quick work. A solvent wipe after vacuuming is a good idea as well.

We recommend using a floor buffer with a ‘3M’ type pad for prep. This micro scratches fine so an epoxy will adhere. Just keep in mind that any epoxy can only stick to what is under it so if the old coating starts to fail, your new epoxy will come up,with it.

We have had thousands of clients use our www.armorcladepoxy.com over existing coatings with excellent results.
