About 6 years ago I cvoated my garage floor with MONSTER GLOSS epoxy. Since then the floor has lost most of its gloss, and has some spots where water had pooled, and left spots (large areas), and black tire marks, etc.
I tried to clean the floor uysing a power floor cleaner (Scrub Brushes as well as soft scotchbrite pad) with Simple Green. It go the flkoor cleaner, but still looks like an old floor.

I need to recoat it, as part of a remodel. What is the best method?
Can I switch to something like, "Epoxy-Coat", and if so , how do I prep?
Do I need to sand the previous floor epoxy? It is not coming up at all.

Thanks

I can't speak for the other coatings, but if you were to apply SUPERCOAT, I would recommend sanding off all the existing coating with a floor buffer and a sanding screen.

SUPERCOAT has great adhesion, but it's only as stong as the substrate to which it is applied. Therefore, if you apply it over another coating, there's no telling how well that coating will stick to the concrete.

Plus, epoxy typically get so hard that another coating won't stick to it very well. At a minimum, you need to sand the coating to 'rough it up'.

I can speak for Epoxy-Coat, All you need to do is give the floor a light sanding and you can apply right over it. It will adhere. Welcome to the forum!

This is a Rust-Oleum kit, I don't know what happened but I just went and bought another half kit to touch up all the areas that look like the picture (it's been 2.5 days)...after I scuff it some, some one stop me if I should'nt attempt this!!

I think I should have feathered my lapping better but I thought I better just lay it on thick, not to leave any thin areas. I don't know, that still doesn't explain why you can see almost every stroke.
