I applied polyurethane caulking to cracks in my paver walkway where the
Stones stop at the lawn and where I have a step down to the rest of the
Patio. Well it looks like sh$t. Grey caulk was more tan. How the hell do I
Remove this stubborn caulk without damaging the pavers or causing it to
Shmear even worse than I managed to do. Also what would you use to "tool "
The new joints so it doesn't stretch when I trowel it into the joints?

I have removed polyurethane caulk before from cedar siding by heating it up first with a heat gun. Then a putty knife and wire brush. Great product if you don't have to remove it. Maybe a gasket remover spray, but could be messier.

those multi saw with a blade for caulking or basically any worn out blade you have at hand. Especially good if it is harden... then you can wire brush the rest off or use heat or what not on the left overs..... I did that around the bricks in the outside windows.. of mixed hardened caulking... removed about 80% fairly quickly (about 5 hours, it was a large window), the other 20% I just left it ....and covered with a fresh caulking, I was tired....

as far as re-caulking/troweling ... I think those self leveling sealants are easy to use... if it fits your needs... I used those blue painters tapes when I do the concrete joints on both side or caulking in non smooth surface that I wanted to look nice.... cause I am not a steady hand person.... If it is a busy sidewalk.... you can cut a strip of those cheap 1/8 mdf and cover the seams duck tape it down so you don't mess it up once you apply it.... at home I think you can skip that step....

I had a similar problem with accidentally getting some poly caulk on the face of some sandstone steps I put in. I ended up using a propane torch to gently heat the caulk up and very painstakingly rubbing it off with a towel. Kind of how you rub elmers glue off your hands. It worked but it was a huge pain.
