How to remove this fastener from block?

Have a water leak in garage, need to remove the bracket holding pipe to wall. I’ve never seen these before. Is it the nails that are driven by a powder charge and what is the best way to remove? I would prefer to use the existing holes to reattach since the wall is stucco that I already had to chisel off to expose.

Ya that definitely looks like a ramset pin/bracket. Depending on the substrate those rarely go in and remain straight. More then likely it’ll spall if you pry it out. If that’s a major concern then I’d grind the head off and use a insert style fastener and try to cover the old pin with the bracket.

You posted the second pic while I was one ********* my post. Me, I’d pry that **** off and patch the stucco then install the pipe and a new strap.

Thank you, I’ll go ahead and pry out. It’s concrete block behind so I was thinking of using a wider diameter Tapcon to reattach.

Looks like a nail in anchor. You should be able to pry the nail out of the body and then remove the body. Go back with a similar anchor or a plastic or fiber anchor and a screw.

Brute force is one way to remove an anchor, but skill and cunning works better.

It will take a little chunk out of the block wall. There is generally no clean way to remove those masonry nails.

get the pipe out of there first, then you have room to manipulate the anchor

Thanks for all the replies, got it fixed. Drilled the nail holes a little larger and used Tapcon screws to put back. Not how I wanted to spend the afternoon but at least I found it on my day off before it flooded the garage.
