I have a flat roof. On the front side, there is a gutter and the water is supposed to go there. However, somehow the water doesn't go in and it flow to sides where there is no gutter. It has been like this when I got the house. Right now, the wood near that area is rotting so I am trying to fix it. Any idea how can i fix it? Thanks!

Is that a raised edge on that flashing? If so, I would think you should be set up with a roof deck drain scupper, and not relying on it to overflow.

l suspect you have slightly more side-slope than down-slope into the gutter. Or that patch is raised and blocking things.

Can you cheat that side flashing upwards near the gutter? Can you re-do the patch for a lower profile? Can you jack up and shim that whole corner of the roof between the wall and roof assembly?

i guess you are completely right. It's supposed to be lower on the front but somehow it's raised.

I am not sure why it's raised and how can i fixed it. Do i need to remove the whole thing and add asphalt again?

Then your roof isn't exactly flat (and it shouldn't be). Normally gutters will stick out about another inch past the end of the roof to get it to catch the last "corner" of water. Nonetheless, if water is going out the side, then add a piece of gutter to the side.

When they put that built up roof in, they let too much hot pitch flow to that corner. There is no easy fix without tearing into it, back enough to correct the slope. One of the reasons built up roof systems aren't hardly used anymore.

Adding a gutter to catch what runs over is about the only option now.

Maybe add a section of roof edge trim, attached onto the side of the current trim, but projecting up at least 2". Attached on the side, but only sealed onto the top., and extending out over the gutter. It would act as a dam to direct water off that edge fo the roof into the gutter. May be an easy fix to direct the water for now until the roof gets replaced eventually.
