ok , so I have an old brunner , its posted on here elsewhere , it is leaking from the output shaft ... so I pulled it to bits and need a little info ...firstly , if you can see inside the shaft housing you will see a broken , ring ,,,, what is it ? ...in the other pics you will see the parts apart , it looks like the spring takes up endfloat (sideways movement) of the shaft , what I need to know is how to seal the shaft , when I took the brass looking acordian type thing of it had an old amount of cork gaskit on it , do I just replace it with the same and make the hole in the gaskit slightly smaller that the shaft so its kinda a push fit ? ... any help will be appreciated ...
cheers

im sure there is a seal in there. That cork is probably an old style of seal, they sell newer rubber revisions of those now, there should be a number on the seal. Maybe a closer picture.

Looks to me like some sort of a mechanical seal. It appears to be worn out considerably. Take it to a bearing house and see if they can match it.

What do you mean by "leaking out the output shaft"?

That looks like some of the graphite ring type seals I have seen used in water pumps. In your third picture it looks like someone tried to use solder or lead to fill in the pitting on that bronze piece.

This may be a link to the company that made it but the site is not in English.

by leaking out the shaft , I mean when the pump is going , oil is ******* out the hole that the shaft goes thru, so not being kept in the pump at all ... I don't believe this is a total loss system
