The blocks need to be large enough that they will not allow the buckets to seat into one another.

Wow, this has gotten a bit of track to say the least--- but VERY entertaining!!!

On a somewhat-related note, does anyone have any tricks for getting the lids off 5 gallon buckets? I'm talking about the "UN" rated lids that don't have the little notches around the rim of the lid.

There's a tool called the "bucket buster" that says it will take the lids off no problem, but I don't know if we really need that. I'm looking for any tips/trick to get them off with "normal" tools.

We have a bunch of these buckets at work that need to have the lids removed so we can rinse them out then reuse them.

Thx.

Most paint stores have a little plastic handle that prys off the lids off really easily and its only a couplet of bucks.

Just use compressed air. Point it where the two buckets meet at the top and give it a shot. Normaly fly right off. the air finds its way into the bottom bucket and blows it off. Thats how we do it at work where we use a lot of buckets. Works almost every time.

Thanks for the reply- but those things only work on the normal lids that have the little slits around the rim of the lid.

What I'm working with is the UN certified lid, there are no slits around the rim of the lid, and they are a beeeeeyotch to get off.

I think I'm gonna try the Bucket Buster and see how it works- worst case is I'll be out ~$25 bucks and have another crappy tool.
