I have a small 26 gallon oil less compressor @ our cabin. It only gets used once every other month or so. Should I leave the tank full of air or empty when not in use for extended periods? It is stored in a unheated garage in N WI.

Just drain any accumulated water from the tank (drain valve at bottom) after each use, depressurize the tank, unplug and you are good to go.

It really doesn't matter if you have air in the tank or not. The chance of it blowing up due to tank failure is less than you getting brain cancer from your cell phone.
Just take a second to drain any water out of the tank, and if you have compressed air in the tank, leave it there.
