I've had 2 Poulans, and a new Echo that I just bought this past fall.
Leaking is a feature regardless of make, and the bar and chain oil that leaks is a mess.
I use the lid off of one of the many cat litter buckets that we have laying around.
That lid is nice because it has a sizable lip that keeps the oil from spreading off the lid.
