How to store large tools?

What about one of those heavy-duty Rubbermaid totes with the lid? Like the kind that slide under your bed, but not clear, they are generally a dark color (grey or black) and depending on your tool box, would be able to slide under it.

Pegboards are ideal for oversized tools, and they are very flexible so you can re-arrange them as your tools and needs change.

I had the gear puller on a peg board, but it ripped the pegs out. I think it's about 45 pounds.

Then try a 4X8, 3/4 plywood. Works for me.

Either hang it on the walls or put it in the deep lower drawers of your box.

Mine are all in the lower drawers or hung up out of the way.

I use the bottom tray of a three tray rolling cart.

I have comercial shelving in my garage, and plan on putting some permanent non moving storage drawers in a couple spots eventually for all the big/heavy stuff.

I'm in the midst of a toolbox reorganization and I've got all my pullers together in two lower drawers now. Couple of things I found out are how hard it is to open those drawers and man I have a lot of pullers. Been thinking about buying a 2 x 4 ft 3/4 ply from home depot and hanging it on the wall to make an old-school puller board. You know, painted white with the pullers outline in black behind it.

Tools like those get stored on the bottom shelf of a workbench. Typically piled on each other.

I was browsing Home Depot and was much taken by their incredibly tough looking hardware storage bins...

...so I grabbed one that had one large, lone washer in it, tipped it upside down, and read:

That is a nice looking set-up there. I have to get those pullers out of the drawer the weight is just too much. Maybe a temp solution will be a couple of bins under the tool box.

Thanks to all for the sugestions.

I just close the attached door that is shown in the pic, and turn the locking knob to secure it. It was an old cabinet that was heading to the trash and originally came from an ambulance. I repurposed it, layed it out and ran screws in to hang everything from.

A guy could do the same thing with a sheet of plywood though.

Hey JBurgess, have you ever actually used that giant wrench. I guess you never know when a buddy might call and inform you that he just purchased a bridge, and wants to borrow your 6" wrench because some of his nuts are loose.

Those large old metal file cabinets work great for large tools or power tools.

Cool puller collection and cabinet. Do you have neat storage for all your tools like that? If so I would like to see some more pics. Next time I am working in Kansas I am going to have to come check your place out.
