bags tend to open/split @ the most inopportune times/places

I'm on the zip tie your zip ties train. The more you use, the tighter the zip tie gets. An occasional trim on the excess and you can still toss them in aforementioned containers or right in a drawer, bag, etc...

I was talking to the guy behind the parts counter at my local electronics supply. He said that he will get a call from someone saying that the zip ties are no good. He says that some of these people have 1000's of ties in storage and sure enough they dry out an snap like crazy. He said something about storing them in a bit of water and they will re uptake the water and be good as new.

I like the drop down. Considered that for my bench but I have under cabinet lighting I'd have to deal with.

that's because nylon is hygroscopic.

When I carried my belt pouch, I kept them zipped together in different pouches for different sizes. Because of the amount of ties needed, I kept an indoor and outdoor belt in the truck.

Nowadays they live in their bags in a file cabinet. I will be putting together a pvc setup like you guys have at some point but not at that stage of organization yet. Still got big picture problems to solve in the shop.

Nothing beats these... I was given a few at the T & B booth during the AWEA wind turbine show. Very sturdy construction and MADE IN USA!

The right one is very easy to use and refill. Simply grab the # of ties you need from the diamond. And the best part is they don't spill if dropped or knocked over.

I keep mine in a plastic bin I store on the floor under the toolbox between the wheels. I use them all the time... from bundling up extension cords to garbage bags and everything else around the garage... not to mention holding down my ebay sale tools to a backer board for shipping. I pick them up at garage sales and estate sales whenever I see them.

I have them in bags and containers. I keep them like this in my travel box for the races, just a zip tie around zip ties...

My OCD told me to please ask you to consider putting a white tie on the white wraps. Thank you for your consideration. lol

Zip ties stay in the bag they were purchased in at my house. Why overthink it?

Man, who new ? I really don't use them that much , didn't realize what an issue it appears to be . I only have black ones , I'm way behind the curve here . Can you get chrome ? There's a tie strap gun ?

Rubber bands usually work pretty well.

I work at an injection molding plant and most of what they make is zip ties and every other fastener you can think of for wiring harnesses, etc. Probably 95% of zip ties have a measured amount of water that is sealed with the ties in a bag for conditioning. A t50 tie needs to hold 50lbs and it will not do that if its not conditioned. The ties need to sit sealed for a month to get conditioned. I leave my ties in the original bags and only take what I need out of a hole and seal it back up.

At work I have the shock boxes cut to length taped together on top of my box, and a little pile in the cart. At home there is zip tied bundles in a paint cup with a coat hanger hook to hang it off the shelf, toolbox etc.

years ago I bought a set from HF and it came in a large clear plastic tube almost like post #14 but you could see through it. Then I put a rubber band around each of the different sizes and put them back in that container.

Funny thing the ties are not so bad and they hold up well except under extreme cold here in the Midwest, but the rubber bands do not hold up that well.

same here. I replace only the sizes I use
