How have you transported and tied down a box for transport?

I am looking at second-hand roll carts, and I am looking for insight on tie down, and blocking procedures.

I have a flatbed trailer, and I am looking at picking up a 34-40 inch Snap-On service cart.

If it’s empty, I’d flip it upside down, use the wheels to stop the straps from sliding, go to the corners of the vehicle from the cart corners.

If a box, lay it on its back.

On a wood deck, I like screwing down blocking for stuff with wheels.

Then enough straps that if 1-2 fail, the load will still be safe

This is what I would do (y), and first wrap it in a packing blanket to protect the paint/chrome

flip it upside down?

no way would i do that. your chance of damaging it is way more than just properly securing it. stuff with wheels on it gets moved every day and it never gets flipped over. chock the wheels with blocks/boards, wrap in a moving blanket and use plenty of straps of the necessary load rating.

Make sure the drawers are locked closed. I moved a box I had drilled the look out of once without thinking anything of it since it was empty and just moving a road over to a bigger shop. All the drawers opened and it fell forward even though it was strapped what I thought was well. Bent the bottom two drawers and slides bad enough I sold the box

Some times you can't be too careful.

Heck, with the slope on my garage and driveway, I can't go more than a foot without doing something to the drawers. Strapped them all shut last time I blew the garage floor clean (a long time ago)

This is how I did it. Make sure the box is empty and most of the weight should be on the tongue. The side straps encircle the box.
