I don't know if they'll catch this and cancel my orders, so buyer beware...

Ace Hardware has a Black Friday code (FRISAVE50) that takes 50% off a single normal priced item under $30. Still active shortly before 9pm eastern, I expect it'll last at least until midnight. Here's how I managed to use the code four times:

You'll need to run a separate transaction for each use of the code. Ace offers free ship to store, otherwise the shipping would've killed the deal. Do not log into your account if you have one, enter all of your info as a guest. For the first transaction I entered the promo code in lowercase: frisave50. After checking out, I went back and purchased another item and entered it all caps: FRISAVE50. It still remembered my info. Third time I clicked log out at the top of the page, added another item with lower case promo code and checked out with PayPal. Then added another item with all caps promo code, did not log out, and paid with PayPal again (it remembered my info.) I entered my Ace Rewards number each time on the payment screen and it did not cause a problem.

You may be able to do this twice over again by logging out and using another form of payment, and again and so on, but I only tried four times - got all of the loose wrenches I wanted to fill out some gaps in my Gearwrench metric flex head set. FYI, the Ace branded ratcheting wrenches are Gearwrench, they even have the standard Gearwench stamping on them and say "Gear Wrench" in the product title, and all of the individual wrenches fall under the $30 limit.

Yea it is on full price items. I just looked through a bunch of stuff but couldn't find any mist-haves. Let me know if you find anything interesting.

I walked around there for 45 minutes and ended up buying something that was $10. They had some good deals on tools but they were already on sale. Most of their stuff was pretty high priced.

I use this coupon to buy a crafstman tool every year. This year I probly spent a half an hour in the tool section looking for something under $30 that I needed. Couldn't find a thing. Then I walked around the store and didn't really se anything I really needed. In the end I picked up an extra craftsman beam style torque wrench for $12 mostly because it was old stock that was made in the USA.

Maybe next year we need a thread on how to use this coupon, I wasted an hour wandering the aisles trying to find a bargain and I noticed a couple other guys who appeared to be doing the same thing. It's tough at Ace since their non-sale prices are 20-30% higher than anybody else. I ended up getting a pair of $20 flanging Vice Grips for $10. A few other items I considered for posterity's sake (and for my own reference next year):

Big C clamp for $18
Craftsman breaker bar for $25
Channellock 460 pliers for $24
Nupla dead blow for $16
2 pack of Vise Grips for $20
Vise Grip chain wrench for $28
Craftsman ignition wrench set for $22

I picture a bunch of 80 year old curmudgeony guys doing their purchasing, they have a bunch of weird dated stuff that doesn't have much of a market anymore (like a whole aisle of mobile home parts) but their selection of stuff with more general appeal (hardware, plumbing, electrical, etc) is very limited and prices are so outlandish that I only go there in an emergency. Last year I needed a GFCI outlet in a hurry. Ace wanted something like $17, I got the exact same one at the Menards down the road for $4 or $5.

I tried to use in online yesterday but the coupon did not apply to items under $30 I needed. For example, I need a new Lufkin folding wood ruler and the coupon did not work this manufacturer. Same applied to other manufacturers.

It was a waste of time. I emailed Ace customer service to complain that the coupon did not apply to many items and that it was a waste of time to search for the items that it did apply. I left the online store without buying anything.
