How to Value Used Tools

So I have decided to liquidate some of the tools that I have bought and no longer use in my current line of work. My intent is to upgrade some things that I need.

So how does a person really set a "fair not us ****" price on used stuff? Ebay, CL, 50% of new? I know stuff is only worth what another person is willing to pay for it. For example I have a SO TQR 600B and a Proto 6222. Both are in like new condition, the Proto probably never used.

Also and Williams X51 ratchet, used in VG condition .

Since these are not your "everyday" used tools is the resale less?

With the new battery impacts, are my old SO and IR 1/2 impacts still have value.

Search the item on ebay and hit 'advanced' to the right of search and then choose sold listings. This will show you a list of the same item at the prices they sold at. With used items it's worth reading some of the sold listings to check what condition they were as it will obviously affect the price.

Snap-On is of course worth 95% of new price, unless it's a rusty "vintage" piece, then it's worth 110% of new.

Are the Buy It Now completed listings reflecting the sold price? I was under the impression they weren't.

I go off the 'Sold listings' for buy it now and bids. 'Completed listings' may include sales finished for other reasons.

Sold listing prices on Ebay are only valid if you sell on Ebay. Don't expect to get Ebay prices on CL or at a G-sale.

I laugh at garage sale sellers that say "my widget goes for X on Ebay". I say, "then sell it on Ebay".

Used tools (and anything else) is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Start a little high, it's much easier to drop the price than it is to raise it.

Don't forget, eBay prices don't all go to the seller. Various fees take 12% bite out of it, and some sellers give free shipping. You have to look carefully, but yes, Sold Items search is a good source of data.
And, of course, timing is everything. For instance, I have a couple of Craftsman Rally Boxes I'm selling just because I'm tired of fighting the top cantilever tray. Looking at Sales of the same box in the same condition, the price varies over a factor of 4 in the time frame that search covers. How much will I get? Depends on how anxious I am to sell. In this case, not very. So, I'll price mine near the top and wait.

I've been selling stuff odd on Kijiji (Craigslist) it's a tough sell. I took a bunch of stuff to commercial auction to see what it would bring . I got about half of what I was hoping for.
I've come to realize my stuff doesn't have a lot of value

4 months to sell a 1/2" Proto ratchet and speed wrench...$30 for both but I was patient. Lots of offers but I don't even respond to effing internet offers.

Vintage American made power tools with a cord have close to no value at all. No one wants a cord attached anymore. Couldn't get $5 apiece at a yard sale.
