I have a set of steel 15x14 rims. I dont have a use for them, and I cant find anyone that wants them. So, anyone have any ideas for uses for these before I decide t ojust take them to the scrap yard?

I originally thought a small fire pit, but they really arent big enough for that.

I might end up using them to wind some steel cable around for storage, but even if i do, that will be temporary storage since i have plans for the cable soon.

maybe a tool stand base? dont really have a need for one right now.

Put them on the list and see if someone offers up a couple bucks for them? While it seems like a great idea to make something they really become the things that wont go away. I scrap most of it. After its tossed you wont think about it except you get the enjoyment of not tripping over them or giving free comfy storage to scrap.
We had a cement block got left on the floor, I finally sent it out, we were giving heated floor space up to an extra chimney block we got no use for.

Powder coat them something wicked, like reflective chrome and use it as a glass table base.

Get a badass lamp and install it inside of it, make a cool ceiling spotlight.

Cut it in half (so two half circles) and make some big industrial outdoor lamps.

Put casters on it and make it a big stupidly heavy trashcan.

Put casters on it and make a plywood inset lid, put some padding on it, make a rolling stool / hidden storage thing.

The width of these (depth?) is what makes me want to try to do something with them. I have two additional sets of "normal" size rims I need to get rid of as well.

I've tried Clist and a local forum with no takers so far so its scrap yard if I dont come up with something I want to use them for.

On the firepit idea, I sw a picture of one with an old satellite dish on top, that ide may work for a cheap / easy firepit. I have an old dish sitting around too...

Grinder stand, matching end tables with glass tops, base for cool set of chairs (attach C shape steel support for chairseat, or straight upright with barstool type round cushioned top), etc.

Do NOT scrap them . . . . too much COOL factor to lose those in meltdown.

I vote for scrap them. Unfortunately all that stuff you save hoping to be able to repurpose at some point in the future adds up after awhile.

Don't scrap them, use as a base, etc as suggested. Weld them together and make a temporary table stand, something like this..

I have a few of those barrels pictured and often use them to set up a temporary work/paint table with boards, to handle dirty work that I don't want in the garage. You wouldn't have to ask me twice....if you were closer.

5 x 5.5 bolt pattern - full size Ford / Dodge pattern.

I saw some barstools using tractor seats with wheel bases that looked cool. But those old tractor seats arent easy to come by or cheap.

It seems like most ideas I come up with, either can be done better / easier with differnet materials.

The table base idea would still require me to store them when I have other things for temporary table tops that take up less space.

Bathroom keychain?

I keep threatening the wife that if she keeps walking out of the room with the remote control, it's going to be chained to one of these...

Un huh. I bought five identical remotes on eBay last month...
I've found four cordless phones sitting next to each other on the dining room table once.

I'm just afraid that if I chain up a remote or a phone, I'll wake up in the morning with a rim chained to a part of my anatomy.

ive seen a couple old steel rims bolted to the side of a house to make a stationary hose reel. Actually looked pretty nice, but they weren't as deep as the ones in the OPs pic

Where are you in Alabama. I'll be coming down I-22 from Memphis to Birmingham and onward to Atlanta middle of next week. Happy to take all four off your hands if you and Elevenhome21 can not put a deal together. That is assuming you are close to my route.

I'm open to this if we can figure out how to get them to you.

Those would be trucks, not cars, but since he mentioned 40" tires, that should be obvious.

Did you read the post I quoted asking about a car with that lug pattern? Here it is again since you missed it the first time.

I wasn't asking the OP, in case it isn't obvious now. :bitchslap :D

[curmudgeon mode]those are not rims, those are wheels. rims are part of a 2 or 3 piece wheel.[/curmudgeon mode] ;)

Thank you for stating that! I hate the word "rims" when people are talking about wheels. A rim is a part of a wheel, dammit!

I knew someone would point that out sooner or later.

Well, these avoided the load that went to the scrap yard yesterday. Still not sure what I'm going to do with them but I've got a few new ideas at least.

Guess I'll set them over by those old break rotors or some of that other stuff I have for sell.

Those are deep enough that you could coil an air or water hose in it instead of around it, which may be easier actualy.

As far as a CAR running 5x5.5? Mine does :) ford cars from 40-48

Nope, I apparently have poor reading comprehension skills, I didn't notice the post you quoted, thought you were asking OP. I actually thought it was odd you would ask that being a 4 wheeler and all...
To answer your question, wouldn't most 9" have this pattern, which is a favorite for hot rodders/racers?
