I bought a 1/4 drive KD bar style toque wrench a while back so that I can use it for turning torque when I have to do differential work. I have been reluctant to put it in my tool box at work because it's in a cardboard box. I was looking for some ideas, was thinking about finding a small metal box to put it in. It's just over a foot long and maybe 3 inches wide on the dial. Since I use my tools A lot being a tech I don't want it to get damaged

Box in bag. That's what I do with stuff I don't want to throw in another bag or box (whether or not I have room). I usually buy messenger bags from a "thrift" store (savers) typically I get well made promotional bags for around 2-3 bucks. The last one I got was a timbuk2. Try finding alternative mobile storage for a beam torque wrench, I dare you.

Carve out some foam to make a cradle. Then put that inside a metal or plastic box if you need hard protection.

I held on to that same box for years, finally I just tossed it and it sits on top of my other torque wrenches in my top drawer, no pressure on the arm or anything. Possibly another company makes a similar tq wrench that has a case that would work? Could probably find some sort of plastic storage container that would work as well.

Make a little wooden box. Use thin material so it won't take up too much space. If you have time to make the pawn shop or flea market rounds, you can probably find a used box.

Thanks guys. I was looking into a metal box but it's hard to find something to resemble size. I will keep an eye out for a plastic or wooded. May just make one since my dad did just get new finishing nail guns:bounce:
I didn't even think about a gun case but that's a great idea. My krl7023 is close to filled up rite now and I'll either have to make room in the top drawer or the big bottom drawer with other boxes. That's why I want it to be safe

When I need to ship something similar that doesn't fit into a flat rate box, I stop by the local Costco. I pick through their mountain of heavy cardboard boxes at the check-out and find one I can cut down and modify to ship items securely.

Hobby Lobby has wood boxes that will work. This box was $4.00 with 40% off coupon. A Google search always finds great coupons for Hobby lobby. They have many sizes available.

That Sears one seems like a good idea. I'm sure I have some foam around from other projects. Also is hobby lobby an online site? Never herd of it before

I took styrofoam and drew an out line of the tool, then I used a heat gun to melt away the excess. Worked pretty well.

Go to Office Depot and look at the plastic containers with lids. I use these for storing machine tools.

I bought a 3/8" Proto and a 1/4" Snap On on ebay. Neither came with a case, so I bought the HF versions when they were on sale and use their hard plastic cases for the "good" wrenches. The HF wrenches have to go bare.
