Just wanted to introduce myself, stumbled upon this forum yesterday and haven't been able to pull myself away from the site. I am a farm boy from Illinois that just moved to the big city of Atlanta and started missing working on tractors so I picked up wood working as a hobby. Looking forward to learning a lot on here, especially since I know very little about wood working and have a very DIY approach to things.

Haha I don't think I could handle gwinnett traffic. I despise driving in gwinnett county, it's such a cluster f***...

I live in Canton and work in Alpharetta so my commute consists of driving by all of the big money horse farms in Alpharetta/Milton. The only traffic I encounter is a couple of 4-way stops that backup a little in the morning and evenings.

I was living in Alpharetta before we moved to Duluth and my commute was about 40 min to get 9.8 miles. Back home, 9.8 miles took 10 min. But other than traffic I love GA. Sitting at 70 degrees in December ain't too bad.

Welcome from Woodstock!

I feel your pain, I grew up in rural NC. I lived in the city for a couple years then decided living out here in the 'burbs was well worth putting up with the commute downtown.

I agree completely. Plus the nice things about the burbs in Georgia is that its only about a 30 min drive to be out in the country in some areas. You can take the dirt roads away from a farm boy but he will sure as hell find them sooner or later.

Welcome from Alpharetta.

I am on a couple of acres with an old ranch house 1 mile west of downtown Alpharetta. Still working on a real workshop, but have a welder if you need anything.

I used to have a 12x36 lathe and a milk, but just down to my 7x10 lathe
