Howdy from the base of the Rocky Mountains!

Been a lurker for a few weeks - as we are just starting the process of building a new detached garage w/ studio apartment/home office above. I'm in the tech industry and not a DYI'er when comes to this type of project work, but trying to educate myself before taking this project out to bid to get a better idea of what I want, overall cost estimates, efficient/sustainable build and heating/cooling best practices, etc... wish I had the time and talents to do this myself, but will be hiring this out to a GC to make this concept a reality...

So far I've been doing a lot of searches and there is a wealth of information... can't wait to get started with my project in the next month or two, but between now and then will do a ton of research on this site.

So far, we are in the brainstorm/design stage and learning about codes and such... attached is the rough draft "bid" plans...

Welcome to the GJ. Good to hear you've got a project getting underway.
Why don't you go ahead and repost this to the general discussion section with the pdf plans. Also maybe take a quick couple of pictures of the site where the garage is going to go and throw those up on the board as well.

So as you may have noticed already we're a little nuts on the subject of project pictures. You can never post too many projects shots. Shoot early, shoot often, and then heck take a few more shots for good measure.
