I am new to the site, and I sure wish I had found this 5 years ago when I started planning. My building is a barn-style, gambrel roof, 2-story. The main section is 28' x 40', and I have a 9' lean-to porch. I'm not done building yet, (working on siding and electrical) but most all the decisions have been made. So, if I screwed up, I'm pretty much stuck with it.

I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade, so the whole project has been a learning experience. I have also been doing everything by myself, so I have had to invent a few of my own methods as I went along.

I plan to do a build thread at some point, but for now I just need to finish it up!

Being an engineer, you should be enjoying those opportunities to invent new methods :) I know I do.

As others have said, show us what's going on now, don't just wait until the end to post up the finished product. If that's what I was waiting for, I still wouldn't have started my ASYLUM thread yet :bounce:

BTW, has the weather cooled down any up there? I'm headed to your fine state shortly and I'm hoping to escape this FL heat for a brief moment.

Good luck with the build.

The weather is beautiful right now. This week has been in the 70's to low 80's and the humidity finally left, at least for a little bit. I am in the Milwaukee area and this week has been the nicest of the summer. Enjoy!

Here's a picture - extra small

The weather really is great right now. Not too hot, fairly dry, and the skeeters are at least tolerable. I thought I would post a picture, partly to figure out how, and to show the current status of the project. So, I attached a picture, but I need to study up on how to get it to show up larger than a postage stamp.

The members can click on the attached thumbnails to make it bigger if they want.

Looks like a great place with a full size second floor. I'm sure a lot of folks here would love to see what you are up to there. I suggest you start a thread in the gallery forum to show us all. The intro threads don't really hang around too long.

There's also a "test" forum that you can try out a few things before going live with the real thing.

:lol_hitti That is a good one. I don't know how many times I've seen people set on a plan and then someone makes a suggestion or posts their garage build and then the building plans change. But that's not a BAD thing. People make the changes because they are great ideas and will make the project better. I just got an idea today that would look sharp in my place.

Good luck on your build. Start a thread and post some pix along the way.

Welcome to GJ, Dave.

OK, I admit I have been REALLY bad about updates. Here is a more up-to-date photo. I have not been active on this site for a while, but maybe I can remedy the situation over the next few days.
