Howdy Y'all,
I've been lurking, reading and inspired by a great many wonderful garages on GJ for a while now and I thought it was time to jump in and say Howdy! (Texan for Hi!).
I haven't had a decent workshop or garage for a while now... decades actually.
For the past dozen years we had been living in old houses in Central Austin on small lots with very small garage spaces while our daughters finished school. Earlier this year, after many years of searching, we finally found a couple of private, unrestricted acres near Austin on a creek, technically, it's a river, but it looks and sounds like a creek most of the time.
The small (2 bedroom) house came with a (1 bedroom) guest cottage and a two car attached garage which I'll use for the daily drivers and the occasional wood shop type of project. I'm lucky in that the attached two car garage (26' x 26') has one bay with a high (13') ceiling (at one time the bay was deeper and housed an RV) and I expect that I'll put a lift in there to accommodate 3 cars at some point.

Here's how the existing garage looked before we moved in. Unfortunately, it's currently cluttered with our stuff, oldest daughter's stuff and my MIL's stuff... hopefully, this space will become uncluttered in the next few months.

We've remodeled the house (with help) and my wife and I just finished remodeling the guest cottage, so the next project is to build my workshop! I'll start a new thread about the shop, but I'm planning to build (with help) a modest car and motorcycle workshop (maybe 26' x 32') in which I can tinker on my current and future toys. Currently, the toys include a replica of a 1965 Lotus 7 (by Superformance), a 1995 BMW GS/PD Classic and several trials bikes: a Beta Evo, a restored '74 TY250 and a beater '74 Yamaha TY175 (my next project).

I'm looking forward to participating more fully in GJ! On to create my build thread! And to restore a vise, maybe some old signs, build my own welding table,...
