Hello everyone, I've been reading/ lurking here for some time now and recently joined. I'm a full time industrial machine mechanic though I'm involved in many things away from " Work". In a two car garage ( length wise) I've got more **** than the sane mind can absorb. Since Im also an auction junkie and have been for years years there is NO telling what may follow me home. And the things that follow me home from work that gets thrown away adds to it. My family and the select few of my close friends I allow in my garage all call it the 8th & 9th world wonder. 8th because of the " No telling what all is in there" and 9th because I can locate anything within a minuet or two. And I'm not " Mr, Organization". Creative strategic placement combined with mayhem would be the closest accurate description. Its my madness and I like it. The " Goatpath" changes frequently, its part of my security features. Even with a flashlight one would likely get injured or make a lot of noise trying to transverse it, except for me of course. I can and do walk it in the dark, I remember where I leave things. All that and most of the time there is room for one vehicle at a time as I do a LOT of automotive work. I've been ASE master certified for 22 years, Snap-On stops here every Friday. In my garage there's a nice selection of equipment. 13X42 South Bend engine lathe, Tig, Mig welder, Wilton drill press, parts washer, horizontal band saw, H frame press, couple pneumatic presses that I made, 9 tool boxes of different sizes and configuration ( did I mention Im a tool junkie also?) and a slew of smaller things and the new Quincy Qt 25 air compressor that I will be installing later this week. Oh yeah, a full size refrigerator. And there's sewing machines ( Home & Industrial both modern and vintage , gas pressured appliances ( Lanterns and such ). 4 full size filing cabinets ( great for storing stuff) , big 2 door metal cabinet, section of industrial shelving ( this is 50% sewing machines 50% hand held power tools)., 4X8 work bench on casters with two lower shelves and a UHMW sheet on the top. My house turned 100 this year and was not built with a garage and sits on a corner lot, The garage was added sometime in the 70's down the north side of the house. The ceiling on one side is 8 feet and 12 on the other. Ive said before I wouldn't know what to do with a pole barn to which my wife says " whatever". My dad was raised through the great depression, no mystery what I would do with a pole barn. Everything can be re-purposed at least twice. I pull things out of my 4th point of contact to fix stuff all the time.
The two questions I frequently get are: " What do you NOT have in your garage ?" & " what do you NOT do?" My stock answers are " An Imperial Fabergé Egg" & " Sleep"
Oh yeah, Im into leather working. Make all kinds of leather stuff. Just made a new holster for my new Colt 1911. And I make some of my own leather working tools.
Hopefully this gives everyone and idea of the things I'm into. Im looking forward to getting to know everyone.
