I have been reading now and then for a while and figured I should introduce myself if I am going to post.

I love sheds, garages, and shops. My dad was a plumbing contractor and while his shop was poorly organized, I spent many happy hours in it as a kid. Whether it was helping my dad with a shop built project, working on our vehicles, building bluebird houses, or skinning beavers by the homemade barrel stove, it was the perfect place for a kid to grow up.

Eventually I became a Master Plumber myself and for a while had my own shop. But my health kinda crapped out and I changed careers a couple years ago. Now I sell portable storage buildings, garages, etc. It's a good second career and while I miss the plumbing and heating business, I love doing what I do now too.

Last September I purchased a small place with a 14x40 shop/garage on it. I did a bunch of work repairing it and have a bunch more to do. But I just started to put in an apartment in the back 16' of it. I will also add a 4x8 lean to on the back where a garage door had been. And the front 24' will be my shop. I am also going to build a storage building behind it for storage.

My career in construction means I won't need to hire any of the work out. The bad part is that I am **** to the nth degree and that slows me down. The good part is that I am **** to the nth degree and that means it will be done right.

Anyways, thanks for all the knowledge and tips I have picked up so far.

Welcome to the GJ, When I have a plumbing question I know who to ask in a heartbeat!
A 14x40 shop sounds like you will be very busy over the next year...

I do live in Texas but only moved here 2 years ago. It feels like home and I am settling down here.

I will be putting pictures up soon.
