I mean dealing directly with Cornwell, not through dealers. I haven't seen one single Cornwell dealer since I moved here 2 years ago.

if you have, how do you rate Cornwell against SO, Mac, Matco?

I do not like cornwell warranty. EVERYTHING has to be through the dealers. A simple ratchet rebuild kit had me driving 30 miles to meet the rep and talking on to several people. Granted they gave me a new ratchet, but I would much rather have mailed it in or had a rebuild kit mailed. Snap-On I just call for new rebuild kit...again free and mailed to me. Or if I wanted a new ratchet I could have mailed it in on their dime.Toolbox, well just got a used Cornwell one. Snap-On boxes I just call and get whatever new slides I need free. No questions asked. Again, Cornwell...1 year warranty...have to follow down their chain to the local rep. Talk to him and wants me to call him 2 back Mondays from when I first spoke with him and have to meet him and pay $25 for them.

Now Cornwell warranty service is quite good, I am not complaining. But it is complete **** as far as warranty compaired to Snap-On in my experience. Snap-On has gone so far beyond the call. Cornwell, well they do ok.
I have not had dealings with Mac warranty, though if they are anything like their sister company Proto or even Stanley, then I would also rate their warranty service well above Cornwell. Matco I have never had any dealings with, but need to soon.

Of course this is dealing with the companies directly. Different reps for any company can be good or bad.

not enough qualified dealers. Hell my shop is in New York City and we don't have a dealer in the 5 boroughs (Mac or Cornwell )

I've never had a problem sending my stuff back to Cornwell for warranty.. they always return in fairly promptly (usually under a week round trip) and I've never had them deny anything.

I won't even buy used Cornwell stuff. Dealers are too few and far between in my area

When I lived in Central VA. our Cornwell dealer was the bests. He told me he turned 500% in sales, and he did. Warranty, no problems. He even warrantied other products that were abused. Now, our dealer here in Western PA. is useless. He shows up whenever, and ordering tools is a joke, along with , his truck you can not set foot in as it is a huge mess. Cornwell in general has jumped through hoops for warranty on other brands they sell for me. I have had more problems with Mac tools.

I don’t have a dealer anymore so when I broke the cross pin in the head of my 27 inch long 1/2” breaker bar I called the mother ship and they told me it’s serviced as a head repair kit and to send in all the pieces of the head and they’d get me out a kit when they received mine. After a couple weeks a long *** box arrived with a complete new entire breaker bar! This was less than a month ago for time reference. I’d call that pretty good!

******** is an idiot company. They need to grow up and get online sales and support like the rest of the world.
Get you some Snap, Mac, SK,Proto, Wright stuff and with email and a camera you'll never have a bit of a problem. Lemme toss one in for Tekton while I'm at it. GREAT companies.

I sent in a 5/8 combination wrench because it had a discrepancy. They sent me back a perfect 5/8 combination wrench, no questions asked. I remember including a detailed note describing the discrepancy and why I wasn't happy with the wrench.

So basically your rant has nothing to do at all with the original 9 year old post. Got it.

I seem to remember another member sending in a 5/8” wrench with a detailed note many years ago... Must be a common issue.

The rest of the world does not have online sales. Snap-on went back to telephone ordering a couple of years back. Cant order online from Matco up here. Cornwell isnt much different

Tekton is some Chinese tech company isnt it. Nobody has really heard of Tekton in other countries but tool trucks are busier than ever

Tool trucks are great if you work in a shop where one stops. And locally here I've literally never seen a Cornwell truck. If I can't order it online, and I don't work in a shop, and there aren't any tool trucks to begin with, how in the world would I even buy something from them? I guess they don't want my business, but with all the tool options out there I wouldn't be bending over backwards to figure out how to buy from them.

With how easy online sales and ordering is, I'm not sure why every company doesn't automatically have that as an option. What year is it?
