Rated at 8.1 cfm @ 40 psi. Seems to run well and builds pressure pretty well. Max psi on the plate shows 100 psi but the regulator gauge shows up to 170ish. I didn't have a lot of time to check it out, but the price is likely negotiable. Sanborn compressor parts still seem available through Coleman. To get this kind of output of a 120v compressor seems to be pretty pricey. Thoughts on this deal? I think this would have plenty of output for my uses but I would like a larger tank. I should be able to add an additional tank without too much hassle yes?

IMO its a **** shoot. I would look at the build date on the tank. It looks like its an older model. If the owner didn't keep the tank drained I'd be worried about the tank popping a leak from rust. I used to own a Sanborn very similar to that one. Bought it used. The outside was mint. One day when I was using it the tank sprung a leak. Scared the **** out of me.

If this helps, I have the same bin rack as in the background, I like it.

I agree this could go either way. Most likely it will be fine, but if the plate is saying 100psi max it wouldn't work for me.

I have a similar Coleman unit I bought new about 20 years ago, probably logged 500 hours, never changed the oil. Mine's noisy, not sure what his definition of quiet is. I wouldn't go more than $125 on it.

I've bought and sold more than a few of these and $250 is way too much.

My long gone good Buddy hunted up a V-4 refrigeration compressor in a boneyard and hooked it to two tall propane tanks.

He ran it for years. I forget what the electric motor was??

Cheap way to do this.

I had one a long time ago that looked exactly like the pic.

Came from HF, labled as Sanborn. Worked for a couple of

years, then I had to replace the pump, and then close after

that the motor crapped out. You have to go by the data pl

for specs, the gage is a stock item at assembly, and will not

tell you anything about what pressure the machine will deliver.

IIRC, the price of the machine new, was right about 250. give

or take. I think that you should make an offer of 125., or better

yet keep looking for a Quincey or Kellog (commercial quality). You

seem to be intent on getting a good deal...

Good hunting

250 is too much for that tiny thing. 150 is the most I'd pay if I was in the market for a small compressor. As mentioned I've seen a similar compressor and it wasn't what I would consider "quiet". I would pass.

I'm sure glad I asked, lol. Thanks for the feedback guys. I did notice what appeared to be a couple of surface rust spots on the tank but I couldn't be sure how bad they were. I think I will pass for now. I know a compressor of this size would provide what I need at home with no problems. Good quality, 120v units don't come up on the used market very often down here.

I got one for 50$ but I had a use lined up for it. For a garage get something better than that that runs on 240 with a bigger jug on it.

I can justify having a larger tank, but not a larger 240v unit. I don't really need the extra CFM.
