He knows that people on this forum are notorious cheap skates and Snap On fanboys, so honestly it was a smart move.

Or, would have been if he didn't get caught.

This is why there has been discussion to have a minimum post count to post ads in the classifieds. It keeps people from coming here just to peddle their wares for free.

Yeah, we need to make that happen.

BTW, it is inconceivable to me that SO charges that much for such a small box.

just met my dealer today. In our area, they are offering a boy one get one free deal on that box. So he probably paid around $4500 for two boxes and is selling one to recoup his costs.

Sad to say but a number of the items in the classifieds here can be bought cheaper on ebay or the like. It's funny how price hypocritical some folks can be.

Bring back the old post type classifieds imo...

I think it is because the badges are produced from the finest virgin plastic. :lol_hitti

Just an FYI to all.

There will be another classified ad for that Snap-On box. It's price will be matching the CL ad. Ryan and the Moderation staff have talked about setting a minimum post count in order to start a classifed thread. We feel that could help solve problems of people (scammers) coming to GJ just to peddle their wares.

I much preferred the old way that the classifieds worked....i've hardly looked at the page since the change. I would like to see it go back.

Now, with that said, I'd love to see a post-count rule go into effect there (for buyers too?). Maybe post counts AND length of membership. Just my 2 cents.

^^^^^^Seriously. He wants $500 more here. Wouldn't you think you would want to price it cheaper here because we probably know the value.

I think northcountry was around for a little bit and had around 140 posts before he took 12 people for over a grand.

I'm not sure I understand the problem on the pricing. So, if someone finds a bargain they can't try to sell it at a profit? or shouldn't? That's a little rough.

I knew that guy was sketchy from the start just from his avatar debacle. But agree, time spent or post count really don't have anything to do with a persons honesty. This forum is comprised of people from everyday life, just as you meet ignorant dishonest *** holes in real life, well guess what? They too can own a computer.

:spit: Then in that case more than half this forum would be shut down. The people mentioned have the same item listed on CL cheaper than they have listed on here. It is the same person selling the item. But that is not really a problem per say, the real issue that people are having is the low post count even 1st and only post being a classified ad. Basically a stranger stopping in just to sell something, which takes me back to my above comment.

I'm surprised (well I guess I really shouldn't be) that ya all found two examples of this in such a short time. This site has some good detectives (or we all spend too much time on cl). Are ya sure some of ya all aren't from pirate? :D

I must be the odd man out. I have a SO box on here for LESS than it's listed on CL. I think other GJ members deserve a break on price, what goes around comes around.
I wouldn't mind seeing a minimum post count before using classifieds, but that won't stop a determined crook.

Yeah, we need to make that happen.

If only some members had suggested that repeatedly many years ago...

Virtually all forums frown on such opportunistic scumbags registering simply to flog their wares - overpriced or not. If you aren't a contributing member, you should not be able to list. It's just that simple.
