Huge Pictures!!!

What is up with the super sized pictures posted lately? Isn't 800 x 600 large enough to view for most GJ members? Thoughts?

It has been several people. Some of the pictures take forever to load and I usually go to another thread without even looking at them. It might be just me, but the picture doesn't have to be that big to get the point across.

There are several easy ways to resize pics, one is found HERE in a thread I posted just for this purpose. Most photo and paint programs also will allow resizing of the pics, along with rotation, etc, as you might need.

Also remember to visit your "control panel" and go to "attachments" to see the list (and thumbnails if you select it) of all of your uploaded pics. You can find old threads that way, and can also get the links to those pics so you can repost the pics in a new thread on the same subject. I frequently re-post old pics in a discussion, such as this one of my compressor base/stand which I originally posted in January of 2006, which I'm sure I've posted a half dozen times or more since then.

I always re-size my pics to 600x480 for use on forums, and yesterday I posted in this thread, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212628&page=3, post 48. All of the pictures are 600x480, but the first couple are larger than the last one, at least on my screen. Any explanations?

^^^what resolution is your screen? Those pictures don't even cover 2/3 of my 1080 monitors.

I told Ryan about a plugin that automatically re-sizes images over a certain size. Unfortunately he's not bothered to followup on it.

We use that plugin on another forum I'm involved in and it works very well. No super huge images anymore, but the high resolution image is still available with a click if needed. Best of both worlds.

I post mine at 1024 X whatever now. For many monitors 800x600 is just too small.

I don't care what size the pictures are,The last one that seemed kind of big to me was the Motorcycle picture, no big deal. Now the pinup pictures, I like those to be as large as possible.
Just seems to me that we get ripped for spelling and grammar, not being politically correct, and a variety of other things, now we got a thread on picture size?????

Try a bigger monitor with higher resolution? Just saying...

I say the bigger the better. If it is to large for your screen just hold 'CTRL' and use the mouse wheel to zoom out.

the Win7 version of Paint will resize your pictures. I don't know the Vista version, but I'm pretty sure the XP version would not.
