Huge Vintage Jack find.. Weaver?

Title fixed

Picked this up today bundled in a bunch of stuff basically for free, it trys to pump up but won't hold.. I likes it..













I likes it a lot..
I'm thinking about restoring it but I think it may be missing a cover over the hydraulics..

Can anyone tell me anything about like what ton rating it is, about how old it is, if it worth restoring/what it's worth abouts? Is it good enough to warrant a tun of work and $$ to fix it?

I'll be doing a bunch more searching don't worry..

That thing must weigh 250lbs!

Clean that sucker up and look for logos. I can't imagine it not being worth repairing. They just don't make floor jacks like that anymore.

It's a weaver, castle equipment for all your soft/hard parts. It looks like a 4 ton which would be a wa73, normally there is some model number stamping near the rear of the hydraulic unit near the release.

IMO the best long frame Jack available.. Looks like it has seen some moisture though, definitely need to inspect internals prior to buying a kit.

It is a bit rusty but not like it sat outside for years or anything, all of its movements work just fine except one small caster wheel is frozen up on its axle and the wheel has been worn flat on the bottom from dragging across concrete for who knows how many years.. Its hydraulic rams look nice and shiny where they go into there seals + a thick layer of grease around the areas of its workings there.. It wasn't leaking/wet when I got it but I flipped it upside down to inspect the underside and it leaked from me doing that..

It pumps and lifts but rises and falls a bit when pumping, if you stand on it it slowly lowers, if you turn the lowering handle it lowers a lot faster. I have not yet checked it for fluid level because I don't have any hydro fluid here for one and it's dark now that I have time to really check it out and get pics/post my Q's..

What would be the chances I could find a replacement cover plate for it? Maybe make one..

I have not found any markings or manufacturers names other than the red safety tag, I just identified it as a weaver by looking at pics of similar jacks here..

That other jack there is a Matco 2 ton and it totally dwarfs it, the matco jack is quite beastly in its own right but nothing compared to this weaver.. The Matco is not a small jack..

If the weaver is low enough to reach way under the front of my old Porsche to get to the cross member without fuss I will definitely be fixing it up ASAP as I have real problems reaching so far under the low front valance with about any other jack, the first 2-3 pumps or so with the Matco I have to lift the front bumper quite a bit by hand to get it going... If the weaver solves this problem it's already a hero..

I have done some measuring and it is in fact a 4 ton version, and an old one judging by the one piece sides and the bolt on caster carriers..

I have that exact jack, those work well on my mustang or f250.
Kit was I think $50.

I do plan to fix/restore this jack, even if I have to buy all the seals and a wheel. I really like it and will fix it up but I have so much on my plate right now..

Trying to decide what colors to paint it after its thouroughly sripped and wire wheeled.. Thinking maybe black with yellow inserts..

Something didn't go right, it still shows on the title, did you change the title at the very top area?

I got this baby working nicely now!!

I filed her up full of gasoline for a few days and flushed it the best I could, blew it out with compressed air the best I could, then added hydro oil and started working her...

A couple times some gunk interfered with the check valves but pulling the balls and pumping oil out the hole pushed the rest of the **** out... Now it works awesome..

The only thing is that now I notice the whole frame is tweaked sideways a bit, I believe its from being used a lot with one wheel having a flat spot on the bottom so the jack conformed to this unlevel state..

It still works just fine its just a bit crooked, I think I may try shimming under the wheels in the opposite direction and placing a large load on it to try to tweak it back the other way..

Regardless of the tweak I still love the jack, but because I prolly can't make it perfect I probably won't strip and paint it, I'll just shoot it the same way I oil undercoat my winter car, let it drip dry, wipe it off, good to go..
