Hunter Lite-a-line installation

I am installing a hunter Lite-A-Line in my workshop. I have done thousands of alignments with those machines back in the day. I am unable to locate the installation/operators manual. Amazon shows one, but it is not available.

The only dimension I need is the distance from the screen (white part that slides back and forth) and the center of the turning plate. I know how outdated the machine is, but want to set it up anyway. I also have a John Bean drive on rack that I believe predates WWII that will look really cool when all set up.

Any help is appreciated.

Lynn

There is a business near me still using one and I would like to read a manual to see how it works but I haven't found one.

Jack. Have you checked to see if they have one. I bought one of these machines in 1982 from a Ford dealer that was moving. The machine had the manual inside one of the cabinet doors (which is how we were able to set it up).

Unfortunately I had an alignment done there and it ended up being bad so I am not going back. He didn't adjust the suspension height and I found had failed lower arm bushes as I drove away.

Now I am trying to find or make a good alignment machine myself.

Lots of diy tutorials on home alignment. With enough patience, you can do it at home. Do you have older cars?

On an older car where you can mount this magnetic gauge to the hub (you have to remove the dust cover) these are really accurate. I have tested them against the latest computerized stuff, and mine is dead on.

Yes, mostly older cars which have suspension designs from the 40s and 50s. I made a simple tool to do it but it is a bit slow. I just kind of want a fancier setup because I can.

I missed out on buying a VLC Uniflex 130 which is an aligner which like the lite-a-line clamps on the wheels but projects a dot back and also between the wheels side to side. So many manufacturers made similar setups but trying to find them is difficult.

I do know someone who used to have setup which may be a lite-a-line but could be a similar one from another manufacturer. I am going to find out if he still has it but it might be a while.

You are the man. Thanks so much. Have saved each to a thumb drive, as well as on my computer.
Also put them on a DVD in a notebook with the hard copies.

The JH Bender tool is kind of expensive, but only because it is vintage. There are newer knock offs for about 1/10 of the price. I have not used any of the newer stuff, so can't say if it is as accurate.

A little off topic, but it is amazing how accurate the four-wheel alignment equipment and even balancers have gotten.
