Well, I finally found a tire changer. Bought a Hunter TCX500 from a scrap yard that didn't look to bad. I think everything works on it except for the bead breaker which has an ear busted on the cylinder.
Before I start trying to fix this one I figured I'd check here to see if anybody knew where I could get one used.

can you post a pic? I got a load of cylinders and the foot valves from a changer of unknown origin in an auction pile. all I know is they did not fit my Coats...I figured Taiwan machine but who knows, maybe something will fit if you want to see...I think I tossed them in the scrap pile but if there is a housing or something that will work you can have it for the shipping...

That's a heck of an offer, thanks. The cylinder is about 8" in diameter and the stroke is about 8" too. Stainless shell (mines got a dent I think I can straighten and somebody bent the lip too), aluminum end plate. I can rig something to work but wouldn't mind spending a little to get it back right.

Not sure if that valve is good or not. I looped the line back into the valve and it leaked air unless the pedal was pressed just a little. After thinking about it I 'm going to cap both lines like it had the diaphragm between them and see if it still leaks at rest.

Never used a rim clamp machine before, just manual ones and an old Coats with the post.

the valves can usually be rebuilt (just O-rings usually in them). mine leaks a bit too but not a big deal. I will take a look at the stuff I got and see if anything looks like it mite retrofit. IIRC, the cylinders were aluminum with tie plates, like a hydro cylinder but it's been a while...have a major dental apt. today so not sure I will be in any shape to get to the shop tonight but will try.

No hurry. If it's different I think I can try to fix this one first but I'll keep your offer in mind incase things go bad. Really do appreciate the offer.

took some pics of what I could find this morning, seems I took apart the large one for some reason but didn't have time to go through the scrap trailer to find it, I think the shaft was bent. the valves are somewhere...but here's what I found so far.

and yes 3hrs. 3 crowns and other work was altogether unpleasant...

That stuff looks a lot different than what's on mine. The broken ear only affects when its pushing the arm back out. I think I can fix it so it'll be ok if I can't find the parts.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to look.
