I have a wa330 machine, with dsp 300 heads. Unfamiliar with the older model hunters. How do I get the sensors to compensate? They all light and work, but it tells me to do a 3 point comp and won't do anything past that.

What version of winalign are you using? You have to raise the car then level each sensor, lock the sensor with the knob and press the button. Unlock, rotate the wheel until the light turns green and repeat.

I'd have to check and see what version it was again. However I did figure out the compensation method, and got past that stage. Now it just says there's a problem with the transverse toe sensors for the front, and for the life of me can't figure out how to get the sensors to align or work. Pull camber for front and rear, but can't get toe at all. Any input? At the moment kinda think it's broke, but no clue how to diagnose.

I had that error and it improved for a while by cleaning the lens with alcohol and a qtip. After it came back again, I unplugged and replugged the toe sensor from the board inside the head a few times and it hasnt returned. Sensor diagnostics in the help menu will shown which one is causing the problem.

This weekend I'll deep clean the photo eyes and unplug and reconnect the sensors and report back

I have not. The problem appeared to be with one of the two heads up front. I'd assume they only go on one way-photo eyes to the front. I'm at work for the week, so can't do further diagnosis until the weekend.

IIRC you can't swap the heads around. The sensors on the toe arms have to be able to physically/line of sight see the one on the opposite sensor. It doesn't need laser precision, they just need to be able to see each other.

And the sensor at the back of the LF head needs to be able to see the one in the front of LR head. And ditto the above if it has rear toe arms, which are pretty rare IIRC.

If the car you are aligning has more than about 2.5 degrees of negative camber in the front, the toe sensors are not able to see each other. Actually the sensor is fine, the plastic window in the head is not large enough. If you take it apart, you can see a place where you can enlarge it. Not sure why they don't do this from the factory.

Thank you dave! After I get them compensated, it shows a live camber reading that seems within spec, just says there's issue with transverse toe sensor and won't let me continue aligning. I'll take your advice and what others have said and see what happens this weekend.
