I've got that box in red. Mine came with a tray that fit in the top section.
Nice box! It's one of my favorites.

Never seen a Huot like that. Looks like a slight re-imagining on the common Kennedy boxes. I'm not a fan of the Kennedy, but I think I would like have that one; maybe even at the asking price if it is physically in very good shape and there is nothing wrong beyond the finish stuff visible in the pics. I don't need any more boxes, but it sure makes me wish it were local.

The box in question is a Model Number 100. It appears to be from the mid 1950's

Here's a snip form an old catalog:

Not at all similar to the Kennedy machinists boxes, except in the drawer plan. Perhaps closer to the much less common Kennedy mechanics boxes.

I've got a Kennedy 52611 sitting next to my Huot. The Huot is deeper and taller, and all of the drawers are deeper. The bottom drawer holds my 1/2" drive Snap On Impact gun just fine. That ain't happening in any drawer in my Kennedy machinist top boxes.

And see, like I said, it comes with a tool tote for the top. Though I don't think mine was "deep drawn". I'll have to take another look at it now.

I have one of these in the blue and silver color. I never knew it was that old.

Great box, I use it daily.

Thanks for the explanation. I've never seen one in person (to my knowledge), but sounds superior in every way. Now I wish I had one in my collection. I don't much care (at all) for the ubiquitous Kennedy "machinist box", but sounds like their mechanic's box might be a bit better.

I have one of those thats in excellent shape and love it. The drawers actually slide in and out well unlike many other similar toolboxes like this. All the drawers are lined with cork. Mine is blue hammer tone with silver, I really like the color combination; blows away the red.

I pass by St. Thomas frequently but there's no way I could fit that in my vehicle. Maybe the top, but not the whole thing :(

I'd like to see a GarageJournal group buy opportunity from Huot! Maybe some custom colors on drill dispenser cabinets, for example.
