I love this cabinet. Any idea when it was made? Has what look like factory slots on the right side, what would they be for?

Awesome pullout side tray too.

Mr. Huot himself posts here on occasion. He's mentioned they started building mechanic's toolboxes in 1947 but I'm not sure when they ended production. My guess is yours is from somewhere in the 1950s, based on the logo.

Do you know his screen name so I can contact him...

I wonder if the bottom box is even a Huot. Doesn't look like one, color doesn't match the top chest, drawer pulls don't match.

Good catch. Looking at the pics in this thread is the first good look I'm getting at them myself.

I had a real old Sun roller can with slots like that in the top...

It has the same cylindrical red handles on both front doors and the pull out side tray. Maybe those are a giveaway to the maker?

My OTC catalogue shows a similar cabinet in the “ toter” series, but without the rounded corners

I don't know if anyone has verified an official relationship between the two companies, but I'm of the opinion that Huot made boxes for OTC, which would account for the similarities.

I have the same top box in Red, they are great, and the deep drawer is perfect for keeping my Fluke. It is currently being cleaned up from the former owner.

It is on the cover of the '56 catalog here, in your color combo.

I believe my top box is a little older as it has square corners. The mid box has a little bit of a different handle style on it. I found a matching bottom box but unfortunately it was spray bombed. I haven't decided how to tackle it yet.

I just saw it. Those half height drawers are suspiciously similar to those on the Huot 11d top chest, but until I get the two together, I won't truly know. At the moment, I have an 11d Huot chest but have never come across an OTC with those same drawers.
