Hushing that noisy compressor

I have a 30 gal. Craftsman single stage compressor. It's noisy. It's in the corner of the garage as far away from all my neighbors as possible, but I don't want to annoy anyone... too much. I was thinking that if I built an insulated doghouse around it, I could quiet things down quiet a bit. I was thinking something simple out of 2x4s and paneling with maybe some fiberglass insulation on the inside (R13?) or some pink foam sheets.

What do you think? What have you guys done... short of getting a quieter compressor?

You might search as this topic has been covered before, but in essence, you need to extend your intake somewhere as that is where most of the noise comes from. Maybe stretch it up into the attic.
