Huskee front tiller issue

Have a Huskee 21A-340-131 Front tiller. Has a 5HP BS on it. Started having issues with her this spring. Went through normal process. Changed oil, fuel, belt, spark plug. Replaced gaskets, adjusted governor, etc. Got the engine running really good, tines will turn, but as soon as I put them in dirt the belt looses traction, and no more tilling.

Idler pulley is engaged, engine does not bog down, chain case is sealed it says.

I've taken it as far as I can, any ideas?

Is the belt stretched? Or the idler pulley not engaging enough to put enough tension on the belt? Sounds like the belt is slipping once you put a load on it.

Thanks for the quick responses, I ordered a new, new belt as I had previously replaced the belt. I even put the old belt on for a try to the same results.

The idler pulley is fully engaged, there is a separate bolt that limits its range of motion.

I have viewed the manual, it only shows the 390, I have the 340, no reverse on mine. I have one spring, 390 has two. I don't believe it is the idler pulley or spring as they are at their maximum range.

Any other ideas?

Maybe some pictures of what we are looking at? Something obvious might pop out. I don't know what else to look at just by guessing.

The way I read that manual the forward mechanism on the 340 is the same as the forward mechanism on the 390 just it doesn't have the extra reverse stuff. I don't know.

Wanted to update and appreciate the responses, they made me rethink the belt. I am not sure what is going on with it, but it may be stretched or something I did messed it up. I went and purchased a belt 2" smaller, removed the idler pulley and she runs good as new. Just gotta be ready when you start it.

Thanks again.
