Husky ½" drive set question

First off, I'm a new guy here, so I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I went on a pawn shop scouring mission yesterday and found a Husky ½" drive set (ratchet, 6" extension, u-joint, breaker bar and 7/16 through 1-1/4" sockets) like I've never seen before.

All are stamped USA (a shock in it's own right), nothing appears to have ever been used, and it came in a red steel box marked "Husky Professional" with a plastic liner/divider.

I scored the set for $49.99 which I'm more than happy with, but I'm curious as to it's approximate age. I've never seen any Huskys that looked like this at Home Despot before, so I'm guessing probably 1980's?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

late 80s to early 90s most likely. Husky didnt become garbage until Stanley bought it and began supplying the brand exclusively to home dope. They use to make really nice sockets and wrenches.

I would say that is in the mid 80's or older. Most stuff sold at the HD comes in a plastic case and made in oversees. That was probably before HD started to see the Husky name.

Had one of these at an old job...excellent set. I think this is when Husky was made by New Britain.

I have a set of Husky sockets/ratchets in a steel case that came from Home Depot. Just went and looked...red steel case marked "Husky Professional". I got it in the early 90's.

It's a round head with the thumbwheel on it. Breaker bar has a knurled handle, ratchet is smooth.

Thanks for the help all!
