Just got this as a gift for Christmas and the drawers will not lock... I really wanted to get it setup in my garage tomorrow but now it looks like I have to go return it unless anyone knows of a fix...

Is it one of those locks that you have to make a 180 degree turn for the drawers to lock? My craftsman boxes are like that.

My bottom husky rolling chest has a lock that you have to turn 180... The new middle and top chests that I got for Christmas only turn 90 degrees. The top chest locks fine, it's just the middle one that will not lock no matter what I try.

Make sure the drawers are in correctly, mine will do that if the drawers are not in the slides like they should be.

I have a Kobalt intermediate that you have to kind of smack it for the lock bar and cylinder to line up right and turn all the way. Hard to describe, but I drove it from my place to dad's the other week and had to fight just to get the key to go in (tubular key) but once it took its beating it was fine. Yours probably got jarred in shipping. I've had 2 Husky 26" top boxes that took a little coaxing on the first lock/unlock but not as bad as the intermediate. It might have something to do with the way the mechanism works.

Pull a few drawers out and check the Tabs on the locking bar. They may have gotten banged in shipping. You can bent them in or out to engage the drawer in a smoother manner.

Exchanged it with no troubles at Home Depot. Their customer service is pretty legit.
