I did a search and couldn't find anything specific. I'm looking to buy the Husky 72" workbench and other than the Home Depot reviews, I can't find any other reviews of this bench. I had a Gladiator 72" Maple top bench ordered directly from Gladiator for $340, but the estimated delivery date was May 16th. If the Husky bench is similar in quality, I can pick it up locally and get my garage done next week.

I picked one of those up last year. Pretty sturdy for the price. I switched the maple top out for a SO stainless steel one I had picked up cheap so I can't really comment on it except to say it seems like a decent top. I'll find a use for the wooden top some day I'm sure.

I have never seen the Gladiator so I can't make any kind of comparison.

I don't have the Husky bench that you are looking at, but I do have the 72" Gladiator maple top one (GAWB06MTZG). It's very solid, but I'm a little disappointed with the fit and finish on the top. It looks like the top should have been put through the planer or wide-belt sander a few more times. You can feel the transitions from one board to another (not perfectly uniform). There are also several voids on the underside that were filled with filler. Neither of these issues impacts its utility, though.

This may be due to the fact that I bought it during the Sears 2015 Black Friday sale for $250. I wonder if they actually unload factory seconds during these sales. The Gladiator Premier 30" cabinets (GAWG302DRG) that I have also bought during these sales are marked "Promotional" on the box.

A friend of mine is a welder, so I am going to see what he can come up with. So far it looks like I'll be able to have him build me a custom metal bench for no more than the Gladiator. I'm thinking of doing a plate steel top instead of butcher block. I can't think of any reason to go with wood over steel for the top.

I guess I am just a cheap azz... Never spent more then 30 bucks to build a bench. A few 2 x 4's and a sheet of plywood builds a pretty nice bench... With money left over to buy a few tools. :)
