Husky 8 gallon air compressor vs kobalt?

So the husky is a oil lubed motor( my little ch I had died at 4 years of being oilless motor) specs are 12.5 amp
125psi

Kobalt
150psi
12.5 amp but this one is oiless

I got the husky now but I'm having a lot of problems after 2 weeks already my circuit is 15amp.( kinda small I know) I have a 100 foot extension to power it. I can get it to turn on 1/3 of the time it's usually just hums and doesn't start the other day it would do nothing at all I turn it upside down shook it that made it work? It ocationaly trips the breaker this model as tons of people say the same thing and other things such as it won't run in the hot or the cold

My thoughts too. How heavy is your extension? 10 ga? 12ga? I wouldn't want to use even 14/3 at that length.

Well, I'd test it first at the outlet directly. I'd be curious to see if that resolves your issue.

Ideally, you wouldn't be using an extension cord, but I realize that reality isn't ideal.

At a minimum, I'd spring for a 12AWG cord.

OP . . . you're chasing after PROBLEMS in 2 important areas:

1) Do NOT be thinking that Kobalt oil-less is even worth buying. It's NOT. Only few brands of oil-less are worth buying > > > California Air, SpeedAire, and couple contractor DeWalt models. Search prior GJ threads as I may have left out couple others. This will be your MOBILE compressor for hauling around to different locations, and use for brad nailers, nail guns, etc.

2) Never, EVER, Never use compressor on 100 ft extension cord as your normal everyday method. Plug compressor directly into outlet . . . and INSTEAD . . . have couple 50 ft air hoses connected (or one long 100 ft airhose) to reach whatever the heck you're working on 100 ft away on regular basis.

Long-term most garages end up with 2 or more compressors. Thus, get a quality oil-less, or better yet oil-splash small compressor as your mobile compressor. Then for real power, you want 5 HP 60 gal as the workhorse for your garage, and then all you're dealing with after that is airline system, or airhoses.

I've got the older version of the 8 gallon Husky and I've had no trouble or complaints. I've had it for about 2 years. I just purchased 12awg to use when I run it.

Yup! USA made too I've got a grand total of $68 ******* in the compressor including the extension cord.

So why can't you use a longer air hose? They are much cheaper and more effective than extension cords.

If you are hell-bent on using a long extension cord, a 12 gauge would the minimum size I would use but I would lean toward a 10 gauge.

I would roll the air compressor out to plug it in, and then run my hose to whatever I am doing.

I've got the Husky 8 gal and really like it. I use synth compressor oil and swapped out the stock ~6' 14/3 power cord with a 25' 12/3 and never use an extension cord. My garage has 20 amps but my power cord has 5-15 plugs. I've had no problems.

I used my 8 gallon Husky often, today with a 12g 25ft extension cord, No problems. Your extension cord is what I would suspect.

Depending on your shed, you could mount a weatherproof electric box (something like http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004K1G0OU/?tag=atomicindus08-20) in the side of the shed with the back cut out of the box and feed the power cord and airline through that.
