Yes, looks very good on paper, but I know these numbers could also be a bit off. Just curious if anyone knew.

Whats a fair price on one, I cant find much info on these units?

7.5 x 4 is 30 in a perfect system. So the cfm number seems pretty realistic. I've worked on these before. The pressure switch is a little cheap but you can always upgrade if it fails. I assume this is for your garage?

Yes, for my home garage. I would like to run cutoff tools, air hammers, and anything below that in consumption. Maybe down the line a blast cabinet would be nice. Probably wont be doing any painting or anything like that.

Could you tell me how the noise level is on this unit? Would it be obnoxious in a 2 car garage?

I have this ones little brother. The 3.7hp 150 psi 60 gallon. Had it for about 2 1.2 years now and no issues with it running air hammer and die grinders. Not too loud, but built a closet to put it in anyway.

Can you tell us what the pump speed is? If it’s over 800 rpm it’s going to be fairly loud. Also, if the pump is aluminum it will be louder than a cast iron pump. The easiest way to reduce the noise is to either add an intake muffler or a remote air intake. There are hundreds of threads on this topic on this site for you to read.

You won’t be disappointed with that sized compressor, it will meet all of your needs easily.

I have a Husky 30 Gallon version with a pump and oil sightglass, etc. Had it for 5+ years and no problems, so far.

I would be careful about generalizations regarding RPM and noise levels. Most of the twin cylinder quiet pumps (like those used on CAT compressors) are 1680 RPM since they are 4 pole, direct drive units. I don't recall my father's Champion compressor being that quiet despite running at less than 800 RPM (pump speed). The most obvious place to reduce noise is the intake. My belt driven 120V compressor dropped ~8db with changes to the intake/filter housing. This was going from a straight intake pipe with a breather style filter like this:
To this one + 14" of rubber hose added to the intake tube

(links only to show pictures, not an endorsement)

If you look at Eaton's compressor muffler manual you can see it's basically a box with baffles (likely with acoustic foam) and the intake filters. This is something that looks rather easy to construct as a DIY project.

Incidentally, I suspect this is an error on Eaton's part but they rate the quiet and non-quiet versions of their compressors at the same 73 db thus implying their quiet box does nothing... I doubt that is the case.
