I'm in the market for a right angle die grinder, and while trying to score a good deal on ebay, I did a little searching to make sure I knew what a good deal was...

This looks like a pretty good deal:

Buy expensive or go HF cheap and throw them out... We consume cheap angle grinders every few months at work... you can get them from gypsies for like 10-15$ a piece. Otherwise, but a GOOD IR, CP, wiking, Snap On etc.

If the husky is still made in USA that should be a decent quality Florida Pneumatic unit which I wouldnt hesistate to buy.

i had used the HF right angle grinder and it work for almost year but i had it broke where the air nozzle on it are broke from fall off from bench. it is easy breakable. if you throw or drop it and it will break or crack it. so i had bought good IR right angle air grinder from my snap on guy as sold me for cheap price... then i used it since i bought and love it. i keep lube all my air tools...

I don't believe Husky is still made in America,
but neither is IR, nor CP, don't know about wiking or Snap On.
I would prefer to get something good quality and made in America, but I just can't find pneumatic tools that are still made here.

IR and CP both make high end composite die grinders in the 100-150$ range. Suiox makes industrial quality die grinders and snap ons red air tools are made by suiox. I have used a suiox die grinder that is WAY older than myself at my friends shop and it still has life left in it. Id imagine since they are stamped with the snap on name, they ought to be pretty good too.

So go with one of these, or go to HF and buy 2-3 of them and just chuck them when they go. Some of us buy one good one, others buy many cheap ones and consider them disposable. Im currently using an astro pneumatic at work that makes horrific sounds as you grind, im waiting for it to just kick the bucket all together.

I have a high dollar composite-bodied Ingersol Rand as well as a cheap Harbor Freight unit ... the HF works just as good and has lasted as long as the more expensive IR unit, but the HF unit uses about twice the air in an equal amount of time.

I had a Husky air hammer and it did not pack much of a punch, I gave it away and bought a used Matco off ebay which works great.

I don't NEED high end composite - I won't use it enough for weight to be an issue, and with my light use a decent quality unit should last for quite a while,
however, I prefer to support Made in the USA products... but I just can't seem to find US air tools.

Thanks.

Florida Pneumatic claims to be USA and Japan made ... I have never tried one of their tools though ...

I didn't "need" a high end composite die grinder either, but I do own one and I was just giving you my opinion on comparing the two. High end vs. low end.

I understand that, and appreciate it. I guess my point is, I don't want to buy **** (HF), but I also don't want to spend $100+.

I'm thinking that I'll probably buy the husky and hope for the best.

Thanks for the replies.

My father has a Husky 3/8 impact gun. Has used it for quite a bit now, never had a problem with it...

Aircat also makes a 90* die grinder which should be a good one as well as quiet if it is like their other tools I own, Nitrocat, 1/4" & 3/8" air ratchets. Think it goes in the neighborhood of around 80.00.

My point was, the HF is no worse than my high-end IR other than the air consumption. You can catch them on sale for $9.99 ... buy them in pairs, that way you always have a back up.

Well, I had decided that I was going to buy a HF unit on sale for $19.99, including some sanding disks, but then I checked my e-mail this morning and found that I won a used CH unit for $12.50.
So, that's what I'm getting. Cool.

Thanks for that advice.

Well, that's good to know. I'll keep that in mind for my next purchase.

FYI, the Husky air tools are made by Campbell Hausfeld. So are the Lowes Iron Force. Many of the better Craftsman air tools are made by Florida Pneumatic and IR.

Toolfan I just bought a model H4715 and for as many times as I'm going to use it, it should last forever.
