I bought a HomeDepot 3 ton Husky jack today. It came with two jack stands and a creeper for $55. Great deal and I thought it would be a relabled Harbor Freight jack in different colors. It isn't even close in comparison to my 2.5 ton HF jack.

The Husky has totally different hydralic works but basically the same frame construction as the HF. The cylinder has two star type gears that mesh together to open and close it. The HF has a worm gear driven with a universal joint. The HD jack pumps easy but opening and closing the cylinder is rough and crude compared to the HF jack. This is evident when bleeding down to lower the car. It's touchy but managable. I hope it gets smoother with use and a little grease on the gears. The HF is very smooth and predictable when cracking it open to bleed down.

My take on this is the Husky is still a hell of a deal for $55 but the HF is a more precise and user friendly jack for $79. HF discontinued the 2.5 ton low profile jack but it appears to be the same as the current 3 ton low profile jack.
