i like their husky pro screw drivers (us western forge)
the sockets ratchets and wrenches tend to be stanley, so serviceable but not drool worthy

I had one of their screwdrivers in my hand the other day. The handle felt fantastic, but when I looked at the tip the finish was flaking. I picked another one up and it was the same. I was still tempted to buy one though because of how awesome it felt in my hand.

Last time I looked really closely at Husky tools, I notice they moved to Danaher from Stanley. They had a bigger selection the previously and where all made in China. They even have the gearwrench USA made TQ wrench. Associate said they change everything out a couple of months ago. Still, like you said, nothing of note worthy.

The only Husky I have experience with is a 25' tape measure. I broke the blade (my fault) took it back and exchanged it with no problem w/o receipt. I really like the magnetic double sided tip. BTW, I use it almost every day. I like it better than the Stanley FatMax because it is easier to read with my aging eyes.

Beware of the super cheap stuff.

I have a complete full polish standard wrench set (U.S. made) 1/4"-1 1/4" That I bought over 14 years ago and use them daily and hard and they are still my favorite standard set I own.
I also own several of the US chrome socket sets I bought when I first started wrenching and they are still holding there own. I also have a metric full polish wrench set that has no COO marking that are good also.
I remember when I first started going to Home Depot they had a Craftsman Coffin that you could trade in your CM tools for Husky. They also had a lot more tools than they do now. Complete hand tool sets but now they sell crappy tools with no selection.

I have a set of their shiny *pro* looking combo wrenches, had em for at least 10 years. they work just fine.
I remember that too. At the Home Depot I went too it was a big empty aquarium that people dropped their traded in tools in.
I spotted a Snap-On ratchet in there.

I have a set of their screwdrivers. I've broken a few of them using them as prybars (not recommended) and they gave me new ones no problem.

I had to warranty a broken 3/8" u-joint extension. Since they only sell it in sets the store would not give me a replacement. Said I had ot call corporate, ship it to them, then they woudl review it and shi me a replacement. Threw it out and bought a Craftsman.

The reversible ratcheting wrenches are MUCH better than Gearwrench, Taiwan instead of China; they are made by the same OEM as Proto Blackhawk ratcheting wrenches.
I have set of sae/metric combo wrenches made in the 90's and are USA made. They are awesome quality unlikely the garbage home depot is pedaling now.
are you sure? I was just in home depot last night, and checked out some ratcheting wrenches from Husky. They were decent but they were marked Made in China.

The sets I'm talking about are packaged in a carboard framed blister pack, and are definitely made in Taiwan. The shape of the reverse selector is a dead giveaway for this OEM. If you look at the blackhawk and then at these Husky wrenches, you'll quickly see.
Also, the non reversible are Chinese, and made by a different OEM. The Taiwan Husky and Blackhawk reversibles are in such a different league than Gearwrench, it's almost hard to compare them. They're even nicer than the original KD/Gearwrench Taiwan wrenches, which were pretty darn nice.

Do you have any pics of the ones you're talking about? The ones I saw were in a plastic framed pack, which were reversible. I kept/keep hearing about the ones you are talking about but yet to see.

I haven't used manny huskey tools but the ones I have used have been pretty good.

How about there current sockets, looking for light/medium duty sparsely used deep walls.
i bought a set of metric reversible ratcheting wrench a few months ago for my home box an they were marked made in Taiwan. i was also surprised at how good of quality they are definitely better than gearwrench in my opinion

i have some older made in usa sockets and some made in china pliers. also i have a hammer, multi bit screwdriver and tool bag that i dont know where they are made and i have never had a problem with any of it but they are atleast 6-8 yrs old

I have a set of four offset double box end metric wrenches I got from home depot (husky) and they aren't bad for the money. Granted they aren't near as nice as my Craftsman pro box ends US made, but for $15.00 the Huskies are hard to beat. The only con I have found with them is the chrome scratches very easy.

Ive had good experiences with USA made Husky screwdrivers. I once bought a $29.99 set from HD that had a mix of USA made, Taiwan, and China. Easily spot the imports because they immediately started rusting. Ive since gotten rid of the non-usa Husky screwdrivers, and have a mix of Husky, husky pro, Craftsman, and Craftsman pro screwdrivers.
If you want screwdrivers from Home depot, there is a nice Cushion Grip 6-piece USA made set for 20 bucks. Husky Pro version.
I also recommend for the price the Husky Toolboxes. Made in USA with global components by waterloo. I got a 5-drawer top chest for 100 bucks and i have been pleased.
I also recently went against my belief and baught Chinese tools... A 6 piece mini-plier set on clearance for 6 bucks. Sure they ****, the handles want to fall off, and they have rough finish, but I needed some precision pliers to use occasionally and Kobalt, Craftsman and Husky were all chinese. Went with the cheapest ones. They ****, but so have all my past kobalts, and I refuse to buy any chinese craftsman tool.
I have some USA xcelite precision pliers that are great. but i needed a better variety.
But I wouldnt recommend other husky tools. Just Cheap chinese ****.

I have a road box with nothing but Husky tools in it. A 185 piece socket set with some extensions, adapters, and swivels I added. Also bought a set of pliers and mini pliers as well as a set of screwdrivers. Also got their hex bit sockets and torx sockets. I primarily use the tools in emergencies or when going to the junkyard. They have served me fine so far. Hope that helps.

Weird. I have that same set and have none of the same complaints. As a matter of fact, i liked them so much i went back and bought the normal sized plier set as well.

My buddy has one of the "Black Chrome" sets that i believe are made by stanley. He bought the big set, and has abused the **** out of it for years. Nothing has broken. We use the sockets on an impact, huge cheater bars on the ratchets, and it all holds up.

I may have gotten a bad draw then! I had to shove the handles hack on 2 of the pairs right out of the package. Theres the adhesive goop spilling out from around them too.

They make non-reversibles that they often have on sale for about $20 or so. Those are Chinese. You'll find them in the aisle bins along with the "special buys" and that sort of thing.
The reversible wrenches sell for quite a bit more and are usually stocked alongside the other wrenches in the tool section. Those are Taiwanese and are basically copies of the Blackhawk wrenches.
The screwdrivers are all really nice. Western Forge, same as Craftsman and newer SK.
