Finish and looks are one thing. How they fit the bolt/nut is a totally different beast. I think fit is more important than finish personally. Take Kobalt sockets for example. They look awesome and have great chrome, but the ones I have used fit terribly and make it where I never want to use them.

I would say Craftsman are the best here.

My road box is full of Craftsman USA stuff that I bought back in the 80's....and still use them everyday. I buy a bunch still when they are on sale or find them used....still your best bang for the buck. Warranty? My "Sears Hometown Store" is a joke. They stock next to nothing and getting them mail something in on the rare occasion you break something is like ******* on your own foot..........more trouble than it's worth. But, who cares....how often do you break a socket that isn't your own fault?

I have, however, bought some Kobalt USA (made by Williams) old stock from Cripes....mostly torx.......VERY inexpensive and haven't broken one yet. Example....10 piece 1/2d shallow sae 3/8" - 15/16" with a rail shipped to you for less than $20 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kobalt-10pc...62459952?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item5b0137d430
