Looking to pick up a 60 gallon air compressor for under $500. Both the Husky and Puma are what I'm considering with the Husky being slightly cheaper.

Husky C601H - CFM at 40 psi is 13.4 and CFM at 90 psi is 11.5 / 155 psi max.
Puma PK6060V - CFM at 40 psi is 13.5 and CFM at 90 psi is 12 / 135 psi max.

Too hard to decide. Which would you choose and why?

Thanks!

I had the same question a couple weeks ago... I ended up buying the Puma with the 50 dollar coupon so far I am very happy with the puma. My suggestion is to do the break in and then change the oil right away. the manual states change it after like 15 hrs (I cant remember off the top of my head) either way it was a long time! anyway the oil that came out was almost black and full of debris.

I'd vote for Puma (try to find a $50 off coupon too!). I've had my eye on it for a while now....

Just picked up the Puma today! I had them drain the oil and we laid it down on the bed of a truck...a bit of oil still leaked out though. I read that I should leave it upright for 24 hours for the oil to drain back down...anything I should check before I start it up? I was also told to turn the compressor manually to check for oil...how do I do that? How can I tell if oil is still there?

In the manual it mentioned a magnetic starter...is it required for a 3hp that only draws 15amps?

I wired a 30a/250v receptacle beneath the breaker box using 10-3 wire and 30a 2-pole breaker. The outlet looks like this:

Thanks! Sorry for the noob questions.

I too picked up the Puma 6060 last year. So far I really like it. Really quiet compared to the oiless Craftsman it replaced.

I had to use a die grinder with a carbide burr the other day and was very pleased. Trying the same with my old 6 HP (old ratings) 33 gallon setup would've never have worked. This Puma knocked it out without issue.

Don't understand why you'd need anything special to hook it up assuming you are gonna turn it on/off using the control on the compressor.

Mine is wired into a wall switch outside the compressor closet. I did get a special 5 HP (can't remember but at least that IIRC) motor rated switch.

Also I wired mine into a wall plug like you ^^ did.

The one thing I try and not do is turn if off while it is running. While researching compressors I read that isn't good for switching controls (?). Seemed to make sense to me so I try not to.
