I have a set of 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 which I bought in the late 70's, my father had an older set he bought maybe 10 years earlier; all say made in the US. I bought them from a local hardware, HD was founded right about then, so Husky existed before HD

Before HD acquiring Husky, were they independent or part of some other company? Back in the day, did they ever make their own tools or someone always made them for
Husky?

They were probably manufactured by New Britain; good tools.

As said, they started out as independent, then owned and manufactured by New Britain.

Stanley bought the name in the 80s? and later sold the name to HD.
