I bought a set of both and was surprised to see they are almost exactly the same.

Ive noticed this before... the Husky wrenches are LIGHT YEARS ahead of the repeatedly cheapened into oblivion tripe that GW is now selling. They are what GW used to be... until Danaher did what they do best, and took a good quality, profitable brand and squeezed every drop of blood out until it was nothing but a meaningless husk.

These made in Taiwan Blackhawks and Huskys are some of the best quality on the market IMO.

There are only a few companies that actually make ratcheting wrenches, so many of them share OEMs.

A couple companies that make many different brands are Kabo and Hi-five.

This is Hi-five's website:

Actually, it appears Hi-five may have made one or both of your wrenches.

Afaik VIM shares this OEM with Husky and Blackhawk. One thing I do know for sure is that their stuff is top notch, much like the old Taiwan made gearerench used to be.

Thanks.

What a trip. That may be the case.

The quality on these is so much better than the new Gearwrench, they are not comparable.

Interesting.. I almost bought some Blackhawk ratcheting wrenches at a flea market but I meant to see if they were rebranded or Stanley-fied first.

I wonder how many name brands they make for? I swear their are only a couple of Torque wrench manufactures in Taiwan as well. They all look the same.

Sure seems like it.

I went to HD today and noticed a bunch of their Husky Taiwan tools sure look a lot like Craftsmans.

I know the Craftsman are made in China (all of them) and are re-named Gearwrench. Its unfortunate that Craftsman when Chinese not Tai.

I know Kobalts look very similar to Craftsman/gearwrench but are made in Taiwan....probably from the company mentioned above.

HD tools are made by Stanley and all there Blackhawk ratcheting wrenches are made in Taiwan.....I am imagine the same place that makes the HD wrenches.

I would prefer Taiwan over China anyday.

OK was just there....it was very obvious that they have moved to Danaher. All the stuff was made in China and look just like Craftsman...but cheaper. There torque wrenches are 100% Gearwrenches....even down to the made in the USA. Obviously, Stanley got the boot.

My Craftsman ratcheting wrenches are made in the USA, I bought them on sale last year for $45 shipped to store.

I liked them so much I ordered another set 2 weeks later, but made in China showed up  I refused the order, and the Sears clerk tried telling me they were still made in the USA... I just walked away

My HD used to have China made reversibles, and they all switched to the higher quality Taiwan made versions, in newer, updated packaging. This was fairly recently.

Mine just made this change. The selection is bigger and have open stocket. All the old stanley black stuff is gone. Plus its hard not to tell by the Gearwrench torque wrench, which is not the type they before.
