I just bought a new set of husky pro screwdrivers and they seem really nice. There was a thread a while ago about them and I just finally pulled the trigger.

When I tore them out of the package, I noticed that they had an odd smell. They smell like cherry cough syrup. Has anybody else experienced this?

What's with everyone complaining about funny smelling tools. Mine might all smell like Channel #5, but I'd never know because the smell of WD40 and PB-Blaster in my shop overpowers just about anything.

If you have opened up a drawer full pf 80's Craftsman screwdrivers it smells like someone puked in the drawer. It's so strong no amout of wd-40 could mask it

I'm not complaining about the smell. I was just commenting on it. :)
It'll probably waft away/get covered up soon and it sure beats any other screwdriver smell I've come across so far.

A lot of my old (20yrs old) craftsman screw drivers have an odd smell to them. A smell that's never went away or gotten any weaker.

This is an odd thread. We're talking about how tools smell. :headscrat

If you are very offended by the screwdriver handle smell, just buy wood handled ones. I think felo makes some pretty nice ones and the price isn't bad either.

I think that's how china will formulate its attack on the USA if ever we become bitter enemies, they will simply make their screwdriver handles as stinky as possible and then distribute them around town like a newspaper boy, while wearing a protective suit and respirator. All the cheap skates who are looking for something for nothing will rush out to grab them, get one whiff and either die or sit there and grind it up and snort it like an Oxycontin addict... The few that are left would be too afraid to confront our attackers because they might have other stinky things which make Indian food from a very very bad restaurant smell like rose pedals. Oh what are we to do... the horror.... the horror...

I now own every size of the Husky Pro screwdrivers. They are my favorite made in the USA screwdriver. They just feel right, and are incredibly strong. The pleasant scent is just a bonus!

My shorts smell like General Tsao's chicken.

My advice is that you wipe better... either that or look into getting you some of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FFAAD2?ie=UTF8&tag=hubpages0814-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000FFAAD2">these</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=hubpages0814-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000FFAAD2" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />.

I've heard baking soda can really help... might be worth a try... just sprinkle a generous amount on what you want to get the smell off.

At work we have a tool kit with some older Xcellite screwdrivers in it...the whole room knows when someone opens the tool kit. I imagine it's about the same as the Craftsman stank everyone talks about...also smells like the gym wipes they have at the base gym for cleaning the exercise machines...
