So this is my 1st post, I've gotten a ton of great information on tool brands and quality from this site after stumbling upon it awhile ago. I've lurked for quite some time and this is the 1st time I haven't been able to find the answer to something so I actually needed to post. question is, I recently purchased a small 3/8 and 1/4 in drive Husky set for about 30 bucks at the local pawn shop as all my Cman and snappy stuff was locked away in a service van stored an hour away from the casa. So I had nothing to work with around the house. Anyway I wanted to know how you can tell whether a particular Husky tool is US made or not? I have no experience with Husky other then knowing its the HD house brand. I have learned from this site who past manufacturers were but that's it. Were they actually stamped USA or was it just taken for granted that they were back then? The ratchet that came with the set is a 44 tooth quick release pear head. It looks quite a bit like the current version Stanley. Its fairly stout, little bit heftier then the current Walmart Stanley. Very good chrome and very positive ie firm feeling and metal directional selector. I was surprised when I counted the teeth, I can honestly say that it feels much smoother then my go to Wright dual pawl. I actually opened it up to see if it was maybe a dual pawl. It had grease in it at one point but mostly just residue left now. The part # is 27102. The sockets look and feel quite nice and hefty also. I had a cheap Walmart bought Stanley set years ago and the sockets which admittedly worked just fine at the time for light around the house use, looked like absolute garbage. Broaching was off center, some were chromed inside and out, some were just polished and some were actually just raw machined, no chrome, polish or anything inside. Other oddball flaws too but the point is this set looks and feels like much higher quality. It came in a black molded case with a 1/4 in driver and bit socket adapter however it isn't the same molded case I've seen the current lineup of husky china garbage in. It actually looks a lot like a Cman case. If anyone has any input on that ratchet or for that matter husky part number lineage identification in general I'd really appreciate it. Personally I like the set quite a bit for the few times I've had to use it on the car regardless of where it came from, especially being a measly 30 bucks but I do prefer a good american tool over an import.
