i saw the craigslist that seller sell the husky toolbox with husky side toolbox... the chest and bottom box are "cheap homeowner" but side box are older model husky side box... the seller are sell it together for 100 dollars BUT i am only interesting on Side box ONLY!!! the seller won't sell it seperate... so what can i do?

I dont have a room for junk chest/bottom box but i only want a side box because i has a menards 36' full wide drawers and i want a deeper drawer to hold my weirds tools in...

should i just get whole package and keep side box then give chest/bottom to my brother (his home toolbox are overfill of tools) OR forget it and move on...

the sears are sell craftsman side box for 300 dollars right now. that why i want find a used one for cheaper price...

craigslist is here :

If the seller wont split then your only option is to buy the whole box and try to sell it off to recoup some of your loss. For $100 buy it if you want it. You can make some of your money back (If not 100%) by selling off the box(S) you don't want. IMO its worth $100

For a $100, buy it and sell or pawn the rest. The side box looks to be the old school husky that was the same as the econimizer mac series that sold for 2 or 3 times as much as the husky. I'm not saying that is a super great pro box, but for a $100 you can't go wrong.

Pawn shops offer 1/3 of the used value. So if they sell it for $60, they will offer you $20 for it. Pawn shops **** to sell to. They don't like buying from people that don't desperately NEED money.

I would try to re-sale it on craigslist or other local classifieds.

What I see in the ad, seller ASKING $100 cash. That leaves the door wide open for a cheaper offer, possibly $80 or $90, especially if it has been listed for a couple of days.
Sometimes, if I am interested in something and do not want to pay this asking price, I ask the seller what his "Magic Price" is to make the item disappear.

Yes, if your brother would be happy with the top and bottom box, and you'd be happy with the sidebox, get it. $100 looks like a more than fair price for that setup IMO.

Wow, if I had the chance to buy that side box for $100 it would be in my garage already. I have one of those on each side of my combo. The first one was a pain in the **** to get because the HD stopped stocking them and it had to be special ordered. The second one that I got a year later cost almost $300 because its labeled Beach and it came from Canada. If youre real lucky its an early one with the ball bearing slides. Mine are both later issues and they have regular slide drawers but I keep light stuff in them. Buy it all, keep the side and sell the rest.

Andy, I would say that's a pretty good deal! You can get the side cabinet and then re-list the rest for $100, should sell quickly. Eitherway it's a good price... GL

I wonder if he told someone you were in front of them and the buyer upped the offer? :dunno:

Sounds like the seller was unscrupulous either way b/c you had indicated interest in it and he didn't give you the chance to come look at it. :(

Sorry you didn't get it, but honestly, a decent deal like that is usually good for about 6 hours on CL.
I buy and sell toolboxes on CL all the time and that setup I would have sold for 150 in about 3-9 hours.

With your difficulty using a phone, CL bargains may often escape you, just a fact of life as CL is mostly a fast phone medium.

Personally, I loathe texting and I have missed a few deals because I won't text.

And like other sellers, I also pretty much ignore most e-mails/texts on items I am selling as my actual sales rate on e-mail/texts is near zero.

By the way, I've sold three side boxes in that class in the last twelve months. I didn't get 100 for any one of them. That's two nice Craftsman and a restored Cornwall.
Side boxes just don't sell for much used.
I've turned down nice SnapOn older side boxes for 75 and 100. Could not make a dime on them, so I skipped them.

I wouldn't give a thousand bucks for a truckload of husky boxes

Im kinda surprised to hear someone say that. Ive had mine for 5 or 6 years and so far its held up very well. I dont think I would buy one of the newer boxes from HD. I dont know who makes them now. The early boxes like mine were made in Canada in the same plant that the MAC, Proto, and Beach boxes. Im sure theres a big difference in quality compared to the big $$ boxes but so far no complaints from me.

Do you let most sellers know you have hearing difficulties? I think most people are decent enough to cut you some slack and not insist on phone calls if they know that's the case.

i do like older model husky boxes as great for home only... i did own a mac tool bottom box as 41" that is almost same with husky but traded it in for KRL1001 as used because mac tool district manager wont honor the ball bearing slides problems because i has it as heavy line tech. the mac tool district manager told me to trade it in for Macsimilzer. i told why, he said it is very strongest box, show me price if i am trade it in, it was 8,000 dollars. i told him good BYE!
