Husky sockets? made at same plant as craftsman?

Ok I remember seeing a double stamped Husky socket that was also stamped matco from the silver eagle line posted here. Well I bought the 200pc husky set with the decent little box posted in the hot deals section for a beater set. I'm going threw it and I find not one but two Craftsman AD stamped sockets in the 1/4" drawer lol. These where sealed in the plastic trays so I don't think some swapped these out.

Apex's quality control isn't the best when they can't get the brands right lol. The qustions is who do I call to get the missing sockets, Hd will want to swap it but there sold out around here on that kit. I haven't seen loose sockets from husky in a long time either.

That's goofy, seems like Apex tool group is making everything for just about everybody anymore. I was talking to my Matco guy last week and he was telling me that there is talk up the Matco chain that they might be moving there stuff to taiwan cause it's been hard for them to Get Apex to make all there tools the way Matco wants.

Apex tools is currently moving their plant (At least Armstrong plant) and haven't actually manufactured in a while. I know this because I shipped them an Armstrong 3/8th ratchet and it took six months for me to get another sent to me. They even claimed that they "bought it back" from one of their vendors. I call BS since they were even doing Facebook giveaways with the same ratchet in the set.

About 3 months in I got really pissed off and they sent me an 80 Tooth 3/8th drive Gearwrench ratchet to keep and hold me over until I got my Armstrong one back. I actually like the gearwrench ratchet 100x better than the $80 Armstrong. Go figure.

My home depot has tons of loose sockets hanging on the wall in the tool aisle.

OP, I don't know where in south Jersey you are, but I'm pretty sure the home depot in berlin on 73 has loose sockets.

I guess I should look harder then lol... most time I am in the power tool isle, thought all they had where kits anymore

If you aren't sure who makes what, just look at the first part of the UPC code. The first set of numbers is the manufacturer ID. I have used this tool to see for sure, https://www.upcdatabase.com/itemform.asp

I called the 1888 husky number, it went to apex so there going to ship out the screw ups. Also found a miss stamped 7/32 Drive end and socket end got reversed. 3/8" and 1/2" drawers where fine. who ever assembled the 1/4 set must of been blind.

Buy USA-Made tools while those USA-based plants last.

I've seen plenty of similarities between Husky and Craftsman's sockets. Wouldn't be surprised if they were all made in the same plant in China.

I have us made tools, no way in hell your getting a ball bearing box made in USA, with a 200pc china 1/4" to 1/2" socket set for $69 bucks out the door. Its a beater set to throw in the back of my suv. Quality of the tools isn't too bad and I like the ratchets but quality control is pretty bad on this set.

Those ratchets have the same type of guts as Gearwrench/Matco but with a QR button.
Damn nice for the money.

SOME of the Husky ratcheting wrenches are re-branded Gearwrench too.

yeah hard to beat for the money, I like that there about half the thickness of the kobalt ratchets in the head when you compare the cheap ratchets, its not a snap on but its a lot better then most cheap one's and just as good as some mid priced ratchets. The quick release is also somewhat recessed so its hard to bump it while your working in a tight area.

Nope, I think they're closer to GW than they are Craftsman

They are damn near identical to Gearwrench.
